ME Campaign 2 - Turn 5 - Orcs vs Dwarfs

Time for some 4000 points orc-on-dwarf action! The scenario is a Battle line, which means a random deployment.

Deployment - Dwarfs
So... from left to right... Gyrocopter, Thunderers, warriors, iron breakers...

...yeah, those are the same iron breakers... Then there are Longbeards, a small unit of iron breakers led by the army general, a unit of hammerers, another copter, some slayers...

The dwarven left flank (that is, the right side of the table from the camera's point of view) is a mess of woods, swamps and war machines. To be specific, two organ guns and three bolt throwers.

Deployment - Orcs
The orcs seem to have taken posession of a cousy cottage on the other side of the river. Their leader rides a wyvern and hides on the far right of this picture. Further to the left is a horde of squigs, prodded into battle by gobbos with grabbasticks. There is also a wolf chariot and a rokk lobba hanging around next to them. Closer to the ford is a big block of savage orcs. The bridge is guarded by a bolt thrower, a lobba and a unit of black orcs.

...those black orcs seem to be a horde by the way. On the other side of those buildings we have a throng of night goblins, followed by a wolf chariot, some boar boys and a pig chariot.

Turn 1
The wyvern guy bates away to threaten the dwarven right flank. Flap flap.

The orcs are rushing across the field, but are met by heavy fire from the stunties. Half of the boar boys are casualtized. The dwarfs on the other hand don't move much at all. No surprises yet.

The "rushing across the field" might have a bit of an exaggeration. The black orcs and squigs are having some trouble getting across the river, while the night goblins are squabbling about who has the best and pointiest nose.

Turn 2
The orcs decide to compensate for the loss of speed by activating the waaagh device. The savage orcs reach the iron breakers but get cut up pretty badly. The shooters are chased away by the wyvern while the black orc horde are getting dangerously close to the dwarven center.

Meanwhile the slayers are being slayed by a combination of gobbos, boar boyz and piggy wagon. Only one of the nudist stunties survive.

Turn 3
The squigs break the warriors, who barely get away.

The savage orcs are slowly grinding the iron breakers down but suffer some whacking in return. The Black orcs charge the two units of iron breakers and hammerers.

Umm... what? The slayer is still standing. Too bad for him, he was probably looking forward to death by severe clobbering this turn.

The warriors have rallied but get charged again by the squigs.

Normally, savage boyz don't fare too well against iron breakers. But this time they are really messing them up. The dwarfs fighting the black orcs are not feeling too well either. Even the dwarf general has been beat up, probably by some nasty boss in the blorc unit. But what the hell is that big block of longbeards doing, hanging around like that? They could probably turn the tide in either of those fights... ah well.

We probably messed up the turn count in this report. This picture should be turn 5 or something. In the end, in either case, the orcs won the grinding and got a minor victory. Which gives them five empire points as they has the All or nothing special event.
